I was sitting in path lab this morning when this girl taps me on the shoulder and excitedly asks, "you play on fulltilt?" I just stare at her with a wtf? look for a few seconds before I realize that I'm wearing a fulltilt fleece. So I tell her I do and she asks if I play holdem blah blah blah and then tells me that she and her husband play 1/2 and 2/4 LHE yada yada yada and I'm like cool. She then asks me what my screen name is. Well I know who this girl is and we've talked before but we're by no means friends or anything and there are other people sitting around us so I didn't really want to tell her that my screen name is "NutsInYourEye". I pause for a second trying to make up something but then realize that if I don't say something very soon it'll be apparent that I'm lying so I just tell her the first screen name that comes to mind.

I obviously tell her I'm "sbrugby". She then asks me what my avatar is and I tell her it's a dog. She asks if it is the white one and I tell her no, it's the brown and black one with the big head. She says that she is the girl with the devil horns. I tell her that was my old avatar and she laughs. She then tells me and her screen name is "golflover" or some shit like that and says that she'll look for me the next time she plays. I couldn't help but chuckle a little and started to say something else but I decided to leave it at that.

I don't know what I'm going to say to her the next time I see her.

I haven't updated in awhile, but I'm not much of a blogger and I've been pretty busy with school. I wanted to share something I'm pretty proud of. It's not quite balla like a new ride or a ridiculous night of booze, coke and strippers but I'm not really the type that would be spending money on such things.

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img281.imageshack.us/img281/5990/tuitionxo8.png" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a>

It wasn't exactly healthy for my BR to keep withdrawing, but I set my mind on paying for my tuition this semester and fortunately I was able to do it. I'm a BR baby and am not comfortable with playing with less than 50 buy-ins so I recently had to drop back to $1/2 for a little while because of it. I'm getting to the point where I can put my ego aside though so it wasn't much of a problem. This is just a hobby to me, but it's pretty cool I can pay for my education with it. My new goal is to pay for my entire med school tuition. My free time is quickly becoming less and less though so I don't how realistic a goal it is. Next semester I plan to max out my subsidized loans and pay the remainder directly. I should have done that this past semester and put the rest in a money market account or something since I don't have to pay interest on sub. loans until after I graduate. Live and learn though.

As for poker, I'm back to primarily playing $2/4 again. I think my game has improved over the past few months and I'm more aware of my emotional/mental state when I play. I'm finally starting to realize that as edges become smaller, the thing that seperates the winners from the losers is discipline. Someone that consistently plays no better than their A-/B+ game is going to come out ahead of a comparably skilled player that plays their A+ game most of the time but then lapses and plays when angry/tired/drunk/tilted/etc. I still have my moments but they're becoming less and less frequent.

I had been playing for almost an hour, but hadn't gotten anything going on this table. If I was practicing good table selection I should have left, but I have a complex where I think I'm better than everyone I sit down with regardless if I actually am or not.

Anyways... MP1 is a TAG, ..

It's nice to be playing on Party again. After playing a lot of $2/4 6-max on Stars, UB, FullTilt, and Party the last few months, I definately feel that overall Party has the weakest players. UB is not far behind, although they simply don't have as many tables running as the other sites. FullTilt and Stars are fairly comparable in the quailty of the players you'll encounter and are a distant third IMO, although the games on both sites are very beatable.

Below are my stats from Party since I started playing there again at the beginning of the month. I've done well over the short duration despite having a 7 buy-in downswing at one point.

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/8907/untitleduq7.png" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a>

I've pretty much entirely quit playing on PokerStars. There are better games on other sites and the lack of rakeback there is a huge turnoff. I've been mainly splitting my time between Party and UB and occasionally playing on FullTilt. I've been running good on UB, but I wish there was a better way to import their HH. I find it a pain in the ass to have Ultimate History running while I'm playing. The HH windows continually popping up drives me insane and after my first session of trying it I haven't used it again. Anyone know of an easier way to get UB hands into PT?

I'll probably spend the rest of this month and next month continuing to play $2/4 before moving up to $3/6. I want a BR of $30K before I make the move. I've been playing it occasionally and am pretty confident I can do well, but with the money so easy to make at $2/4 (knocks on wood) I don't feel rushed to play higher. Even in the few times I've played $3/6 on Party I noticed several people multi-tabling and sitting on 3+ buy-in stacks on several of their tables. $3/6 seems like the level where you start running into the multi-tabling professional players.

Thank you for your response. My original inquiry has yet to be responded to though. I verified my bank account, yet when I try to withdraw money it states that I will be charged a $10 fee. According to your site though, people with validated bank accounts are allowed free withdrawls. Why am I being charged a fee?

Thank you,

Hi dnuts,

Withdrawals are free for participating FirePay users. If you only use your FirePay account to make withdrawals back to your bank account you will not be able to take advantage of free withdrawals. In order to benefit from free withdrawals, you must fund your FirePay account and transfer funds to a merchant’s site.

In order to qualify for free withdrawals with FirePay, you must fund your FirePay account from your Bank Account and make purchases at a merchant site with FirePay on a regular, recurring basis.

If you only use your FirePay account for withdrawals then there will be a $10.00 fee. However, you can always spend your funds at a merchant for free.

Best regards,

FirePay

So as long as a make a deposit into firepay from my bank account, I will be allowed to make withdrawals for free?

Thank you,

dnuts

So I make a deposit from my bank account and transfer those funds to a merchant site and then all subsequent withdrawals are free?

Thank you,

Hi dnuts,

This must be done on a regular basis in order to keep having free withdrawals. Doing this procedure only once will not be enough.

Thank you,

FirePay

Thank you for your reply. If that is the case then I won't be depositing directly from my bank account. On the website it says that withdrawals are free for those with validated bank accounts. This obviously isn't the case. It is misleading for FirePay to suggest that it is.

Well I finally did something constructive with some of the money I've made from poker. This morning I wrote a check for $5,382.75 for my tuition. Of course, it's only 1/4 of what I owe for this semester but it felt pretty good nonetheless. I'll be able to make the next payment and possibly the third but for the remainder and next semester I'll probably have to take out more loans.

I'm also in the process of getting some money moved over to Party and am going to start playing there again. Good ol' Party Poker...
