I've been trying to move up to 200NL for about 3 weeks now. I've started playing 3 times and each time I get my ass beat horribly and I have to drop back down. It's pretty disgusting actually. I've run worse in the 7K hands I've played at 200NL this month than in any 7k stretch of the 50K+ 100NL hands I've played since June 1. I'll run amazingly at 100NL, then start playing 200NL and FullTiltPoker.net will just shit all over me. Let's look at some hands (stop reading if you hate bad beats).

Yes, these all happened in 7K hands, pretty gross huh? Despite all these hands, I'm only down 4 buys so I guess that's not so horrible. Well, back to 100NL tomorrow, I'm beginning to think I'll be there for the rest of my life.

If you grind sngs and don't get called the worst player ever at least 5 times per session by your opponents, you aren't playing optimally.

I'm getting back into this online poker thing. I worked that $300 that my friend gave me a month ago up to 3k and I'm playing $50 sngs and 100NL on stars. I'll play sngs one session and if I have a bad session, I'll go to cash games and play those for a while and then switch back. I find that this helps keep me focused. I think that if I start playing too much of one thing, my brain kinda shuts off and goes on auto pilot for a while and I start playing like a robot almost. Switching between cash games and sngs really keeps me focused. I'm back on stars also so search for me and say hi if you're bored.

Well I've finally worked up the boredom to update this thing. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm playing mostly live now. I had to cash out some money since I'm poor and I also became aware of some pretty good live games around here and needed some cheese to play in them.

I had my spring break last week and me and two of my housemates headed down to Ceasar's Indiana. The casino/hotel there is pretty nice and so are the cash games even though I ran like shit in them. The first night I took a shot at 500NL which didn't go very well. The big pot I lost was with J9 of diamonds vs QQ in a limped hand on a QJJ5 board with two diamonds. So after I donked off $750, I continued to run like absolute shit in 200NL. So after the first night I was down $900, great. But the next day there was a $40 rebuy tournament that I ended up chopping 4-ways with each of us getting $2584. So for the next two days I continued to run horribly in 200NL and ended up down maybe a buy-in or so. I'll spare you the bad beat stories but I could have easily been up $500 during that span. So after we got home on Wednesday night (we got there Sunday afternoon) my net for the trip was +$1100 after hotel and food. So I can't really complain even if the only reason I was up was because I ran well in a donkament.

So at one point I had exactly $0.00 online but then I remember that I had $570 on UB Bonuses waiting to be cleared so I had my friend xfer me $300 on FullTiltPoker.net and then captZEEbo hooked me up on UB. So after clearing like $100 of the Bonus my online roll is up to $800 (I can almost move up to 50NL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!1111!!!!!one. It's kinda fun to build back up from nothing by just running over the 25NL 6max players.

Anyway, I'll try to keep this thing updated on a slightly more regular basis (but not too regular ).

I'm playing mostly live now.

I've played 16K hands of 200NL 6max since January 1 and I'm on a heater. Here's a graph. The first part is the hands I played from September - October of 200NL 6max. The arrow represents January 1 when I subscribed to cardrunners. After the arrow is 2007. I have no doubt that cardrunners is the main reason for my upswing. Lesson: subscribe to cardrunners.com. Now if I can just stop spewing cash in MTTs, I should be playing 400NL 6max by March at the latest.

I've had to cash out quite a bit lately and I"m back playing 200NL. SnGs are just not as fun for me anymore as they used to be but we'll see how long this lasts.

Also, my goal for this year is to be rolled for 1K NL by the end of the year (20K roll) ok well maybe that isn't quite rolled for it but my goal is to have a 20K roll by the end of the year. I think this is a realistic goal that can be accomplished simply by putting in enough hours.

Not much to report, still grinding $109 SnGs, still running relatively well. I had to cash out 4k for my honeymoon next year. We are going on a cruse to hawaii. Anyways, that knocks me back down to around 10.5K so I won't be starting the $215s anytime soon

Well I'll be leaving for Minnesota tomorrow morning and won't be back until Sunday so that means no poker. My cousin is back from Iraq and my extended family is driving up to my Aunt and Uncle's house to see him.

Well, I'm in full sng grind mode. I've started 8-tabling the $109s but I think my play starts to decline and I might drop down to 6-tabling them. If you're wondering why it took me so long to reach 500 sngs (I made a post at the end of August when I had played 350, the answer is that I only played 14 sngs from August 30 - October 27. As for November, I'm grinding and grinding but that will probably slow down as I have a lot of shit related to school that will be coming up, so I'm sure my play will really slow down until the middle of december when I will have a poker orgy. Here's some stats after 501 $109 SnGs.



I'm in the middle of a downswing too and I cannot get a 1st to save my life lately. I think I need to drop down to 6 tabling. Another thing I noticed is that my ROI is much higher on Friday/Saturday/Sundays than other days. I guess the fish really do come out on weekends and I wish I could play more but unfortunately, weekends are the busiest days of the week for me.

I haven't updated this thing in a while. I'm back to playing Donk n' Gos on FullTiltPoker.net/Stars. I just get bored of cash games pretty quickly I guess. I'm running well, beating the $109s pretty handily. If I didn't cash out 4.5k, I'd have 15K and be playing the $215s but as it stands I'll have to wait a while. But if I keep running like I am, I won't be waiting very long.

School has basically killed most of my time to play poker. I cashed out almost half my roll. I have 6k online still and i'm gonna grind 200NL on FullTiltPoker.net. Go me.

Decided to take a shot at 600NL tonight. Managed to run KK into AA twice in 15 mins. Fuck me. Decided to cash out some money to buy some stuff for my new house. I hate everything.

Well let me give you a real update.

Been running pretty good in the 109s. It's a grind no doubt. I've had some pretty sick downswings (12 and 10 OOTM streaks in a span of 40 sngs)but you need to be able to play through those and not think about the money. I have 140 buy ins so a 10 buy-in downswing won't bother me as long as I don't think about it as money. After going through that 40 sng stretch, I don't think much can really faze me anymore. I think I've really grown as a player over this stretch of 109s. I'm pretty sure I'm considered one of the regulars now at the 109s on stars. There's about 5-6 others that I see very often multi-tabling them and I chop heads up with. Like I said earlier, my roll is 14K. Once I hit 15K, I'm gonna start mixing in $215s. I've played 16 of them but I told myself a while ago that I wouldn't start playing them again until I hit 15K. Well enough talk, here are some numbers:



(These are not to be confused with the stats I posted in previous entries. The ones previously posted were my overall sng stats for 109s, 75s on FT, and 215s. These new ones are just my 109s).

As you can see, I've played only 320 which is still a very small sample size. I can expect my ROI to eventually drop to 10% or lower. I'm just going to keep grinding these. Another good thing is that I almost have enough FPPs to get the 26" LCD HDTV. Should be a week before I am able to order it .


I also have some tournaments coming up I'm going to play. There is a series of tournaments I've been playing in on saturdays. They main event is coming up which is a $200 NLHE tournament. The structure is pretty good, they start you with 1500 in chips but blinds start at 5/10 and levels are 45 mins so it's 3 hours of play before the blinds hit 50/100. They also have 2 decks shuffling so you get to see a LOT of hands. I was planning on buying in but I won a seat Saturday for $25 so that will be coming up september 9. I've also won sats to the first 2 WCOOP events on Stars and I plan on playing in both of those ($215 Razz and $530 NLHE, I heart razz).


I'm also moving into my new house this coming Saturday. With classes starting the following Tuesday. Ugh. Not looking forward to that.

Sorry guys, not much to update. I'm still grinding the 109s on stars. I was +4K after my first 75 but I'm break even over the last 175. This might be due to the fact that I play mostly late at night after 11PM EST so maybe once school starts and I can play a little during the day, the games will losen up a little. Or maybe not. Most likely it's just normal SnG variance.

About my goals:
I'm 6 SnGs away from PlatinumStar so I've basically accomplished that.
As for sharkscope, I don't think I'm gonna get a little shark by my name for my total results because I have so many $6, $11, $22, and $33 sngs that I played last year that drag me down. But when I filter out that so it just shows the $109s, I have a little shark icon . Take that for what it is: absolutely meaningless.

In other news I've actually stuck with "grinding" the 109s/215s on Stars. I have two goals for the month of August.

1. Earn Platinumstar on PokerStars
2. Get a little shark by my name on sharkscope

The first one should be relatively easy as long as I keep playing. The second one is more suspect since I have all my 22s/33s results from when I was learning to play SnGs so we'll see.
